picture framing questions and answers

Why are mats or spacers necessary?

Your artwork needs to breathe, and a single mat
(or spacer) allows for at least 3/16 of air space between

the art and the glazing.

An old photo that is framed directly under glass, with noticable dark spots on surface areas, is a good example
of artwork that is not able to "breathe." While there
could be many reasons for the "spots", a likely answer is "foxing" that has occured on the surface due to mold,
and the inability for the artwork to breathe.

Artwork framed with a well chosen matt can most certainly enhance the presentation of any artwork, and will provide the necessary air space required.

Artwork framed with "spacers" allows for direct visual contact of frame to artwork, but still provides protection
and air space.

My artwork is an odd size, and I can't seem to find

a frame to fit, can you help?

Custom matting and/or framing can help!

I can cut a mat to the measurements of any standard size frame. Or, choose from a large selection of frame styles,

and allow me to build you a custom system that will

match precisely the measurements of your artwork.

Can I just buy a piece of glass to go?

Sure! I can cut any size you need.
